About Us
OUR STORY
North Gateway Cafe opened in 2021 as a simple coffee-and-cake stop on the A9. Since then, it’s grown into a foodie destination and a welcoming pit stop for locals, travellers, and walkers heading north.
The name comes from our location – the gateway to the Highlands. Our logo reflects both the outline of the building and the surrounding mountains, grounding us in this unique landscape.

What Makes Us Different
We believe in celebrating local. That’s why our menu features locally sourced produce, and why we partnered with Inverness Coffee Roasting Company to create our own Northern Corries blend – roasted just for us.
Alongside our famous brunches, stonebaked pizzas, and “best in town” mac ’n’ cheese, you’ll also find homemade cakes, great coffee, and a warm welcome. Look out for the red squirrels that often scamper across our decking while you eat!
More Than a Cafe
North Gateway isn’t just a place to refuel – it’s a space for community. On busy days you’ll find our marquee up, giving us extra seating, but it’s also available for private hire. Looking ahead, we’re planning to expand into takeaway, and create opportunities for local makers and small businesses to share retail and workshop space here.
Our goal is to grow a small business hub at the edge of Inverness – a place where great food, creativity, and community come together.
What’s Next
We’ve come a long way since 2021, but we’re only just getting started. With plans to expand further north, build on our takeaway offering, and develop retail space for local crafters, there’s plenty more to come.
